IEC International Electrotechnical Commission

Founded in 1906, the International Electrotechnical Commission IEC is a non-profit organisation for the preparation and publication of international standards for electrical, electronic and related technologies.

IEC provides a platform to companies and interested parties for developing international electrical-engineering standards.

Close to 20,000 experts from industry, commerce, academia and various other stakeholders participate in the standardisation work.

IEC standards represent the needs of stakeholders in the national committees of the participating countries. Electrosuisse is the Swiss national committee in the IEC representing the Swiss electrical-engineering sector.

As a member of IEC, Electrosuisse is part of a worldwide network of electrical-engineering companies, educational institutions, government agencies, consumers and other interested organisations.
