The CES is the Swiss member of the international and European standardization organisations: IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission, Geneva), and Cenelec (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization, Brussels).

CES objectives

• Comprehensive safety of electrotechnical products and installations and the services relating to them
• Compatibility of products and installations in integrated systems and applications
• Acceleration of the spread of new technologies on the market by supporting information processes
• Bringing together the knowledge and interests of all affected expert circles and building consensus on relevant questions subject to controversial debate
• Representation of Swiss interests in the further development of international and European standards for breaking down trade barriers and opening up markets worldwide
• A high level of technical rules in a consistent and widely accepted body of standards with market- and demand-led orientation
