For the protection of the consumer or user, the EU directives require that products may be distributed only if the basic safety and health requirements or basic protection requirements in regard to electromagnetic compatibility have been fulfilled.
The observance of these requirements is to be guaranteed by measures taken in the design phase and during protection. The protection targets and requirements are defined in the harmonised EU directives (www.newapproach.org).
This directive applies for electrical equipment for use at a low voltage between 50 and 1000 V for alternating current and between 75 and 1500 V for direct current.
This directive applies to an entirety of connected parts of which at least one is moving, as well as actuators, control and power circuits, etc., combined for a certain use, such as the processing, handling, movement, and preparation of a material, if applicable.
This directive applies to equipment that can cause electromagnetic interference or whose operation can be impaired by this interference.
This directive applies to equipment and protective systems that are used in areas at risk of explosion.
