CB Certification

With an agreement, the national certification bodies of the IECEE member states have agreed to simplify the worldwide distribution of electrical low-voltage products through the mutual recognition of CB test certificates. The participating states thus want to avoid the same product having to be subjected to several tests, thus permitting faster, cheaper market access to manufacturers and dealers.
 

A CB test certificate is based on a type examination according to IEC standards without assurance of conformity (production monitoring). Since 1 January 2005, EMC tests can also be confirmed in a CB certificate.

The agreement provides the bearers of a CB test certificate with the following:

• Faster and easier access to global markets
• The cessation of multiple tests and inspections (lower testing costs)
• A proof for the defence against type-examination-specific claims of product liability

The path to the CB certificate

Manufacturers or their representatives can apply for a CB certificate with Electrosuisse. Electrosuisse has been accredited by IECEE for the CB procedure. It can thus perform the corresponding tests and issue CB certificates.
